Brett Neidig Obituary

Brett Neidig, 72, of Inch Drive, Selinsgrove, formerly of Sunbury, passed away on May 18, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Brett was born Sept. 15, 1953, in Sunbury. He was the son of Donald Neidig Sr., and Thelma (Peifer) Neidig, who preceded him. A brother, Donald Neidig Jr., also preceded him in death.

On Nov. 11, 2015, he married Dale Anne (Singer) Neidig. They were high school sweethearts who found each other again in 2009 and they shared 16 wonderful years together.

Brett was a 1971 graduate of Shikellamy High School and he attended Williamsport Area Community College. Brett was employed by The Daily Item for 35 years. He was the mailroom supervisor and then the newspaper distribution manager.

Brett was known for his love of sports, which included football, bowling, tennis, softball and shooting pool. He was a huge fan for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Brett was also a member of the Fantasy Football League for more than 42 years. He also loved to ride his motorcycle and to be outdoors.

Brett was an active member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Of Sunbury. He was also a member of the Moose, East Ends Hose company #1, and he was a member of the Deer Foot Hunting Lodge at Little Pine Park in Waterville, Pa.

Brett is survived by his loving wife of 16 years; brother Neil Neidig; sister Julie Miller; his daughters Amber Neidig and Heidi Palofox; his son Nathan Neidig; 13 grandchildren, two step-sons Lucas Shaffchick and Shaffchick; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Barb Singer and many nieces and nephews.

A visiting hour will be held at the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church at 965 Renns Road, Sunbury, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Memorial service will follow at noon in the Church with Pastor Eric Light officiating. Burial will be held in the Riverview Cemetery in Northumberland.
