Sunbury - Betty Jean Hamara, 91 formerly of State Route 61 passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.

She was born on April 28, 1932 in Johnstown a daughter of late Mary (Francis) Karnosky and step-father, Steven Karnosky.

Betty was a graduate of Johnstown Senior High School and received her nursing degree from Temple University School of Nursing.

She had a long career as a registered nurse for Dr. Dorothy Wilson of Sunbury.

She was a member of Catawissa Avenue United Methodist Church, Sunbury.

Her greatest joy was traveling. Each year Betty would travel to a foreign country and also took a "trip around the world".

She is survived by her sister, Shirley M. Hamara of Sunbury.

A viewing will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State Street, Sunbury where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am on Tuesday with Rev. Ronald Murphy officiating.

Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
