Betty (Digan) Good Obituary

Betty (Digan) Good, 97, of Northumberland, was called to the arms of her Lord early Sunday morning, September 15, 2024, at Emmanuel Home where she currently resided.

She was born outside of Milton on October 9, 1926, the daughter of Mertell and Mary (Robbins) Digan. She had two brothers, Paul and Donald, who predeceased her. She attended a one room elementary school named The Ireland School near Milton, grade school in West Milton, and high school in Montandon where she was a soccer cheerleader; and graduated in 1944.

During the war, on September 10, 1944, she married her high school sweetheart, Glenn Good, when he came home on leave. Betty and Glenn were happy married for 66 years before he passed away in 2011.

In early 1955 when they lived in Damascus, Betty was active in Girl Scouts, Bible School, Cub Scouts, and taught Sunday School. In 1962, they moved to Northumberland where they built their forever home. Betty worked in the Record Department at Colonial Fair. Starting in 1967 she worked for Geisinger Medical Center as a control clerk, where she was employed for 15.5 years.

Betty and Glenn were world travelers. They were Florida snowbirds and lived first at Village Pines and then upgraded to a development called The Villages where they were excellent hosts to visiting family and friends. Betty belonged to the Point Township Garden Club and Trinity Lutheran Church. She loved to crochet, garden, cook and bake (especially Christmas cookies), but above all she loved to spend time with her family, and was often found attending grandchildren’s school and sporting events. She enjoyed shopping and had a large jewelry collection. She had a heart of gold and an excellent memory.  She could remember details including birthdays and clothing attire and enjoyed telling long stories with specific details. She always had a smile on her face to greet any visitors and gave the best hugs.

Betty and Glenn were blessed with two children, a daughter and son-in-law Glenda Strouse and Tom; and a son and daughter-in-law Richard Good and Charlene. Also surviving are grandchildren, Tommy (Cheryl) Strouse; Thonda Swank, Amanda (Kevin) Gessner, Richard (Michelle) Good, Jeremy Good, Jason Good, Richanna (Travis) Dorman; twenty great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren with one more on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are welcome to gather on Thursday, September 19 for a viewing from 10:00am-11:00am at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King Street, where the funeral service will be held at 11:00am, followed by graveside service in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam and a meal afterwards.
