Audrey M. Rowe, 94, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She was born on November 16, 1931, in Northumberland, the daughter of the late Ben L. and Mary O. (Pursel) Weirick. On October 18, 1949, she married her beloved Jack R. Rowe, who preceded her in death on June 18, 2008. Audrey and Jack were known by their family to work in sync with each other, through many adventures over the course of their 59-year marriage.

 

A 1949 graduate of Sunbury High School, Audrey retired after many years of dedicated service at Sunbury Community Hospital. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Sunbury. Audrey devoted herself to caring for her home and family, which includes Jo Ann (David) Lawer, Jack (Taff) Rowe, and Wayne Rowe and grandchildren Jonathan Lawer, Sean (Deb) Rowe and their children (Dr. Lauren Rowe-Romano (Aaron), Grant, Clint and Hannah Rowe), Stacey (Lawer Piecuch (Mike) and their children (Anna, Luke and Jack Piecuch), Aaron and Julie Rowe and their children (Ellie (fiancé Troy Johnson) and Emmie Rowe) and Lindsay (Lawer Shea (Liam) and their children (Chris, Finnian and Ailey Shea).  

 

Known as “Ge” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Audrey faithfully attended their many school and sporting events over the years.  She was well-loved for the meals and baked goods she prepared for her family and friends. Ge had a special fondness for animals — especially dogs. She will also be remembered for her quick wit and generosity toward family and friends, as well as for her story —telling and role as family historian. Her fellow church members also recall her “wonderful smile.” Ge’s house always had an open door and a cup of coffee to offer for family and friends.

 

Audrey devoted her life to compassion for others. She helped friends and relatives in any way needed. Her greatest gift to her family was her unfailing love. She will be sadly missed.

 

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 356 Vine St., Sunbury. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Ron Troup. Burial will take place in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Otterbein United Methodist Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home.
