Audrey J. Krick Obituary

Audrey June Krick, of Northumberland, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, at the age of 95.

She was born Nov. 3, 1928, a daughter of the late Harry R. and Katherine (Willet) Lewis of Sunbury.

She married Donald Krick on Oct. 27, 1961. They enjoyed spending time with family locally, and in the Reading area. They also enjoyed bowling. She would fondly reminisce of her experiences and the friendships that evolved through those leagues. They pampered their beloved terriers, Terry and TerryTu. Their time together sadly ended much too soon, when he passed away on June 16, 1988.

Audrey was a skilled seamstress with a strong work ethic from an early age. She was employed for many years in the garment industry. At home, she created beautiful wedding gowns, bridal party attire, prom gowns, and doll clothes. She also created most of her own wardrobe, including accessories. She recently shared that she would sometimes come home from work, make a pair of slacks and wear them to bowl that evening.

Her creative skills were not limited to sewing, as she was not one to be idle. Through the years she gifted many family members with afghans and created beautiful needlework. Her crafting continued, resulting in a plethora of beautiful, seasonal items.

She inherited a green thumb from her father, and nurtured many plants to impressive sizes or beautiful blooms. She recently started a tomato plant from the tomato slice she took from her nephew’s sandwich. She couldn’t wait to share the story and the plant as it grew. She enjoyed the challenges of jigsaw puzzles and collecting her beloved Westie figurines, which she displayed in her home.

She will be remembered for her fondness of old movies and television westerns, and related history. Most notable of which was Gunsmoke, she maintained a log of episodes and the number of times she had viewed them. Her wit and humor were evidenced in her quizzing of “young people” about Wyatt Earp, and disbelief when they were not familiar with him.

Remaining immediate family members are sister, Patricia Wilcox of Selinsgrove; and brother, James E. Lewis of Sunbury. She enjoyed sharing with a chuckle, in addition to nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews that she also had great-great nieces and nephews.

Audrey was predeceased by siblings, Peggy Lewis (toddler), Virginia Case, Harry “Bob” Lewis, Richard “Dick” Lewis, and Barbara McKinney; and more recently, sister-in-law, Margaret Lewis; and brother-in-law, Jim McKinney whose company she enjoyed and who she dearly missed.

According to her wishes, a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. at Northumberland Memorial Park, Route 61, Stonington, with Pastor Eric Shafer officiating.

She will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Donald, whom she has missed dearly.

Please consider donating in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or Boys Town Home, charities that Audrey supported.

The family is being assisted by Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury.
