Arlene Maurer Obituary

Sunbury - Arlene N. Maurer, 100, formerly of Sunbury, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Nottingham Village.  

 

Arlene was born January 12, 1924 in Penn Township, a daughter of the late Ralph and Iva (Kaufman) Kratzer.  On January 28, 1942, she married Charles H. "Shorty" Maurer who preceded her in death June 2015 breaking a 73-year marital union.

 

She attended the Salem one room Schoolhouse.  

 

Arlene attended Grace Lutheran Church until it closed and then St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

 

She worked for Nite Kraft in Sunbury earlier in her career, was a devoted housewife, delivered Meals on Wheels, and volunteered at the snack bar in the hospital.

 

Arlene is survived by son and daughter-in-law Roger and Jane Maurer, grandsons Scott and Adam Maurer, great grandsons Blake and Chase Maurer, great granddaughter Kenzie Maurer, and sister Myrtle Yerger

 

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her brothers Wilmer and Kermit Kratzer, and sisters Iva Berge, Edna Stuck, and Rita Loss.

 

A viewing will be held Friday, July 19th from 10:00a.m.-11:00am at the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut Street, Sunbury where the funeral service will follow at 11:00am.

 

Interment will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
