Archie Passmore Obituary

Reverend Archie Arden Passmore, currently residing in Richmond, VA
went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2022. He was born on June 12,
1941. He was the son of Reverend Alexander A. Passmore and Dorothy
Anna Passmore in Glen Iron, PA. He is survived by his wife, Reverend
Penny Dollar of Richmond, VA; a daughter, Anita Briner (Michael) of
Mechanicsburg, PA; two sons, Allen Passmore of Duncan, OK, and Aric
Passmore (Dianna) of Cypress, TX; four grandchildren, Michaela and Ian
Briner, and Alexandra and Ashlyn Passmore. He was also a wonderful
father figure to Penny’s children Chalrie Rhodes (Lisa) of Richmond, VA,
and Kirk Dollar (Missy) of Baltimore, MD.

Over the years, he served church in IL and PA. During this time he also held the position of
Office Manager for the Philadelphia District North East Nazarene Family Camp, North East, MD.
For a time he also worked as a successful insurance salesman. He returned to his love of preaching
when he was called to serve by two small United Methodist churches. It was at this time he met his
future wife, Penny, at a PA Pastor’s Conference. They were happily married for almost 20 years.
When his father and mother went into evangelism, Archie was twelve years old and went on
the road with them. He learned to play the trumpet at Bucknell University and joined the family
with their messages of good news and uplifting music. He also learned to play several other
instruments. Along with his preaching father and musician mother, they traveled roads all over
the United States and Canada sharing the word of God through Camp Meetings, Revival Services,
and Children’s Crusades. They also sang and played on several radio and TV programs and
recorded several albums.
Archie was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved playing and singing hymns and listening
to his grandchildren play their instruments and sing as they followed the family tradition of being
musicians. He was a hard-working man with many talents in home projects fixing, building,
and gardening. He loved a good prank, telling stories about his childhood, and sharing his lifetime
of memories.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Selinsgrove Church of the Nazarene,
543 W Sassafras Street, Selinsgrove, PA with visitation at noon. The service will be held at 1PM
followed by interment at Northumberland Memorial Park, then returning to the church for a time
of food and fellowship.
In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to continue the Lord’s good work at Selinsgrove
Church of the Nazarene, 543 W. Sassafras Street, Selinsgrove, PA 17870.
