Northumberland - Anthony F. “Tony” Kline, 86, of Essex Lane, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024 in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Tony was born January 3, 1938 a son of the late Evelyn L Kline.  On September 28, 1963 he married the former Dorothy E. Swartz, who survives. They were married for 61 years. 

He was a graduate of Sunbury High School in 1955 and then obtained his Associate Degree in Engineering/Drafting & Design Technology from Penn State University- Hazelton.

He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard serving from 1955-1959.

Tony was a mechanical designer/project engineer for Metso Minerals (formerly Kennedy Van Saun) in Danville for over 40 years.

He was a lifelong member of St. Matthews Church, Sunbury and served in numerous church functions including many years on the Vestry and two terms as Senior Warden

Tony was a member of numerous civic organizations including the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War in which he was a founding Brother and longtime Secretary of Gen. J.P.S. Gobin Camp 503 of Sunbury and Department Eagle Scout Coordinator on the state level of the organization. 

Other organizations in which he took an active part over the years include the Americus Hose Company of which he was a life member, Boy Scout troop 304 of Sunbury in which he served as an adult leader, the Susquehanna Civil War Roundtable, the American Killifish Association and the Central Susquehanna Community Federal Credit Union, having served on the board of directors for many years. 

He is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy and his son Greg Kline of Northumberland.

A funeral service will be held Friday, November 8 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 32 N. Front Street, Sunbury at 11:00am. Visitation will be from 10-10:45am prior to the service. 

Interment will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

In lieu of flowers, any contributions to Tony’s memory may be made to St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Sunbury or to a charity of choice.
