Alvin C. Berie, 82, of Selinsgrove, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at Gesinger Medical Center, Danville following a brief battle with cancer.

Alvin was the son of Alvin C. and Helen Buckles born in Sunbury on May 10, 1943.

He attended Sunbury schools. Alvin was a proud veteran, serving his country in the Army and National Guard following his military service. He remained an active member of American Legion Post #201, Sunbury and Post #44, Northumberland, Sunbury VFW, Thomas Brill Veterans Home Association, Disabled American Veterans Chapter #24 and was a champion of Veterans Affairs.

Alvin loved God and his church. He was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Sunbury, where he served on the altar guild, greeter, usher, Helping Hands of St. Luke's, office volunteer, bulletin folder and St. Luke's cemetery grounds helper.

Alvin retired from AC&F, giving him more time to pursue his love of hunting and fishing, which he shared with his brothers and nephews.

He is survived by his son, Charles Berie of Elkhart, Indiana, his brother, Fred "Putt" Hunter and wife, Gloria, of Northumberland, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Alvin was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Brosius and Shirley Klose, brothers, William E. Snyder Jr. and Elwood "Corky" Buckles and his companion, Patricia Snyder.

A time of visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury. Military honors will be conducted at 11 followed by a memorial service with Rev. Ann Zimmerman officiating.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, American Legion Post #44, VFW Thomas Brill Post #1532, Sunbury.
