Allen E. Snyder

December 1, 1943 ~ April 21, 2020 (age 76)


Northumberland - Allen E. "Ed" Snyder, 76,  of Point Township Drive, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at his home.  
Ed was born December 1, 1943 at home in Northumberland .  He was the son of the late Walter A. and Erna M. (Stambach) Snyder.  March 7, 1971 he married the former Helen L. Sheesley who survives.  
He was a 1960 graduate of Northumberland High School and attended Rex Electronic School in Harrisburg. Ed was employed by Modular Housing and Kennedy Van San.  For many years he was self employed as a general contractor until his retirement in 2015.
Ed was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church.
He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed hunting and farming. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their sporting events and other activities.
In addition to his wife of 49 years Ed is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law Jeffery S. and Anna M. Snyder of Selinsgrove, Todd H. and Linda S. Snyder of South Williamsport, his two daughters and son-in-law Tina L. and Steven E. Pontius of Northumberland, and Kay B. Yocum of Danville, grandchildren; Melissa Pontius-Williams, Sarah and Rachel Yocum, Janelle, Kalynn and Jared Wheeland, Shaunda and Amanda Snyder and Renae Mack, seven great grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter Jazmyn and three brothers, Richard, Gene and Guy Snyder.
A Celebration of Ed's Life will be announced and held at a later date. 
A private graveside service will be in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland with Vicar Karla Leiby officiating. 
Contributions in Ed's memory may be made to Sun Tech Foundation at Sun Area Vo Tech, 815 E. Market Street, New Berlin, PA 17855  to benefit the scholarship and 7-9th grade summer camp programs. Please include "Ed Snyder Memorial" on the memo line.
