Northumberland - William Kenneth "Bill" Hickey, 94, of Second Street, passed away Monday, January 14 at Sunbury Community Health and Rehab.  

Bill was born June 24, 1924 in Northumberland a son of the late Patrick and Martha (Gross) Hickey.  September 18, 1959 he married the former Esther Kissinger of Freeburg who preceded him in death on December 24, 2012.

He was a 1942 Northumberland High School graduate.  December 2, 1942 he enlisted in the Coast Guard, serving as a Radioman Second Class during World War II.  He was honorably discharged in April 1946.  

Following his military discharge, Mr. Hickey went to GI Bill Drafting School, worked at ACF, Industries, then Milton Steel as a draftsman where he retired.

Bill was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Northumberland.  He was a talented artist, specifically known for his oil paintings.  Bill and his wife Esther enjoyed walking through town and were referred to as the "tall man and little woman".  

He is survived by his niece and nephew Pat and Kirk.

In addition to his parents and wife of 53 years, Bill was preceded in death by three sisters Bernice, Thelma and Mary Anna.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 17 at 10am in Riverview Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home 210 King Street, Northumberland.
